The President of ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Marcel Alain DE SOUZA and the Representative of the World Bank for the West African region Mr. Rachid Benmssaoud met Monday, August 22, 2016 at the ECOWAS Commission to update the cooperation between their institutions and give new impetus to the ongoing cooperation projects.
During this meeting both personalities reviewed the various areas of cooperation and paved the way for new projects including among others, the ECOWAS participation to the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the participation of the Bank at the CDP Fund donors Round Table.
This session continued Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the headquarters of the World Bank in Abuja. The ECOWAS Commissioner in charge of Macroeconomic Policy and Economic Research continued exchanges with the Representative of the Bank.
During the working session that lasted more than two hours, the two sides agreed to continue working together to address regional challenges. Commissioner Traoré seized the opportunity to submit to the Bank some challenges, including support for the organization of special sessions to prepare the Round Table of Fund Donors for the Community Development Programme
The Bank has committed to contribute in organizing the Round. The Bank will organize special sessions in Washington on the sidelines of the coming annual meetings.
After the meeting, Commissioner Traore thanked the Representative of the World Bank for its availability and its commitment to support the regional priority programs.
