The second ECOWAS/UEMOA inter-institutional meeting will take place in Abuja from 20th to 26th November, under the joint chairmanship of the Heads of the two institutions, H. Exc. Mr. Kadré Désiré Ouédraogo and H. Exc. Mr. Cheikhe Hadjibou Soumaré.
On the agenda of this meeting major convergence topics will be discussed, among others, the implementation of the ECOWAS CET, transport facilitation, legal cooperation, the Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union, the implementation of the Regional Indicative Programme, Education, Energy, Agriculture and Digital Terrestrial Television.
In addition, the Abuja session will address new topics including the development of regional hydraulic programs, the fight against coastal erosion, joint management of natural disasters, climate change adaptation, harmonization of statistical methods, harmonization of taxation on tobacco and finally the establishment of a joint ECOWAS-UEMOA technical Committee for the Quality Programme.
Sixty technical staff, Experts, Directors and Commissioners of the two institutions will take part to the meeting.
