ECOWAS AND DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS TO OVERCOME THE REGIONAL INTEGRATION CHALLENGES

« ECOWAS will deepen the ongoing regional integration process in the next forty years, bearing in mind the challenges related to terrorism, human rights, gender, youth and environmental issues ». The ECOWAS President made this statement at the 11th annual coordinating meeting of ECOWAS-Development Partners held in Abuja 16th  and 17th November 2015.

During this meeting, the ECOWAS President presented to the Partners, the status of the progress made by ECOWAS these last years in the political, economic and institutionnal areas. Among the achievements of the ECOWAS Commission, the President mentionned the new peace and security architecture in the ECOWAS region. He also mentionned other issues conducted to ensure greater efficiency to the integration process suh as the Common market, the adoption of the ECOWAS Common External Tariff, free movment of people and goods, institutional, administrative and financial reforms, etc.

Representatives from international organizations, cooperation and development agencies, Institutions and member States attended the meeting.
