221 million US dollars to strengthen the ECOWAS Early Warning Mechanism

The USAID brought to ECOWAS a support of 221 million US dollars to strengthen the Early Warning Mechanism in the West African region for the next four years.

The agreement was signed on 19 November 2015 at the ECOWAS Commission by President Kadré Désiré Ouédraogo and Alex Deprez, Director of the USAID West African Regional Mission in Nigeria.

This grant will enable ECOWAS to strengthen its analytical capacity in the production of reliable data on the risk of violence in West Africa. It will also provide assistance to the civil society and Member States in the implementation process of the national centers for Early Warning and Rapid Response.
