Resources of private sector, public sector and Donors are getting less and less sufficient to implement national and regional projects and programs. An efficient remedy to this increasing difficulty through the World is «Public-Private Partnership (PPP), an approach that makes many actors to intervene at the same time.
To increase knowledge and use of PPP model, diagnose best practices and identify input to support regional policy of PPP, the ECOWAS has organized a regional workshop in Lomé on partnership between public and private sectors projects and programs.
During this workshop, about thirty executives and experts from the ECOWAS member States discussed eight major themes ; promotion of regional integration through PPP, legal implications of regional PPP, financial implications of intra regional PPP, use of PPP models to strengthen regional strategic sectors such as energy, water, telecommunication and agriculture, role of the private sector in PPP, role of private institutions in the promotion of PPP, best international and regional practices, framework of a PPP regional policy.
Opening ceremony of this workshop, organized with the financial and technical support of the European Union, was held in presence of many highest authorities including the Representative of the Minister of Economy and Finance of Togo, the ECOWAS Commissioner in charge of Macro-economy policies, the President of Business Women Federation of the region, the Representative of the European Union and the President of ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank (BIDC).
